Top 10 Most Stolen Luxury

Vehicles

Turns out ForbesAutos.com visitors aren't the only ones with good taste in cars and sport utility vehicles; criminals covet many of the same rides that you do. A Highway Loss Data Institute report that covered 2001 to 2003 model-year vehicles from their initial sales through May 2004 found that the Cadillac Escalade is as popular with car thieves as it is with ballers. The HLDI grouped results according to vehicle body style and then according to size. ForbesAutos.com combined the three luxury automotive segments covered -- Luxury Cars, 2WD Luxury SUVs and 4WD Luxury SUVs -- to create the combined Luxury Vehicles list displayed here.

Theft losses indicate the relative average loss payments for theft per insured vehicle year filed under comprehensive coverages. Results are based on the loss experience of 2001-2003 models from their first sales through May 2004. All losses are stated in relative terms, with 100 representing the average theft loss for all cars. For example, a result of 125 would be 25% worse than average.
